Overview
The Honorary Consulate General of Austria in Reykjavik provides local consular assistance for Austrian citizens in Iceland. The Honorary Consul General is Árni Siemsen, in post since 1996. Austria does not maintain a resident embassy in Iceland — the Austrian Embassy in Copenhagen (Denmark) is accredited to Iceland and handles full diplomatic and consular matters. Austria and Iceland are fellow EEA and Schengen members, and Austrian citizens visit Iceland in growing numbers for the Northern Lights, Ring Road, and volcanic landscapes. Direct flights from Vienna to Keflavik (Wizz Air) and connections via Frankfurt and Munich make Iceland easily accessible from Austria.
Service Area
The consulate covers the entire Republic of Iceland. For full embassy services, contact the Austrian Embassy in Copenhagen (+45 3929 4141, kopenhagen-ob@bmeia.gv.at).
