Overview

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bogotá manages bilateral relations with Colombia — a partnership that has grown significantly since diplomatic relations were established in 1980. China is one of Colombia's largest trading partners, with bilateral trade centring on Colombian exports of petroleum, coal, ferronickel and coffee, and Chinese imports of electronics, machinery, textiles and vehicles. Chinese investment in Colombian infrastructure, energy and telecommunications is expanding. The embassy provides consular services from Calle 72; the consular section is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings only.

Visa Services

The consular section processes visa applications for Colombian citizens. Consular hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 09:00–11:30. Spanish-language phone service: +57 601 773 2500 (Monday to Friday 14:00–16:00, Tuesday and Thursday also 09:00–12:00).

Trade & Export Support

Colombia exports petroleum, coal, ferronickel, coffee and emeralds to China. China supplies electronics, machinery, textiles and vehicles. The embassy supports bilateral trade promotion and Chinese investment in Colombian infrastructure and energy.

Cultural & Educational Programs

The embassy supports the Confucius Institute network in Colombia and Chinese language education at Colombian universities. Cultural exchange includes film festivals, art exhibitions and academic scholarship programmes.
