Overview
The Honorary Consulate of Switzerland in Windhoek operates from the Namibia Craft Centre on Tal Street in the city centre and serves as a local point of contact for Swiss citizens in Namibia who need first-line help in an emergency or initial guidance on practical matters. The Honorary Consul has limited authority: Swiss passports and Schengen visas are not issued in Windhoek, and notarial acts and civil-status events cannot be performed here. All full consular cases are handled by the Regional Consular Centre Southern Africa at the Embassy of Switzerland in Pretoria, which covers Swiss nationals across Namibia, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe alongside several South African provinces.
Visa Services
Swiss Schengen visas are not issued at the Windhoek Honorary Consulate. Namibian travellers and third-country residents in Namibia apply through the Embassy of Switzerland in Pretoria or the appointed visa-application centre in South Africa. Swiss citizens travelling onward to Namibia carry the standard Namibian Visa-on-Arrival approval; the Honorary Consulate is not involved in Namibian entry formalities.
Consular Services
Swiss nationals in Namibia can contact the Honorary Consul as a first point of help in genuine emergencies — lost or stolen passports, serious illness, accidents, repatriation coordination, or detention. The Honorary Consul liaises with Namibian authorities, the Embassy in Pretoria and the EDA crisis-management unit in Bern. The Honorary Consul supports Swiss-Namibian commercial contacts on an informal basis. The Honorary Consulate participates in Swiss National Day events on 1 August and maintains contact with the Swiss diaspora in Windhoek and with researchers and students with Swiss-Namibian academic links.

Special Notes
The Namibia Craft Centre is in the historic Old Breweries Building on Tal Street, between Werner List Street and Independence Avenue, an easy walk from the Independence Memorial Museum and Zoo Park. The building also houses the Craft Café (the venue at which the Honorary Consul receives visitors), craft galleries and a craft retail floor, so first-time visitors look for the Craft Café entrance. Always carry the Swiss passport and any Namibian documents (Visa-on-Arrival approval, accommodation booking, return ticket) to consular appointments.
