Visitors must present valid government-issued photo identification such as driver's license or passport. Large bags, backpacks, food, beverages, and electronic devices (except those needed for accessibility) are generally not permitted in consular areas. The consulate is located in Midtown Manhattan at Second Avenue and 48th Street. The nearest subway stations are Grand Central-42nd Street (4, 5, 6, 7, S trains) and 51st Street (6 train, E, M trains). Street parking is extremely limited and expensive; public transportation is strongly recommended. Multiple bus lines serve the area.
