Overview
The U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang serves northeastern China — Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces. The northeast is China's traditional industrial heartland, with deep roots in heavy industry, automotive manufacturing, petroleum and agriculture. Shenyang, Dalian, Changchun and Harbin are the region's principal cities. American companies are present in automotive manufacturing (particularly through joint ventures), agricultural technology, energy and environmental services. The consulate also supports the significant academic exchange between northeastern Chinese universities and American institutions.

The consulate processes nonimmigrant visa applications for Chinese residents of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. Categories include student (F/M), business/tourist (B1/B2), exchange visitor (J), and work visas.
