Overview
Romania is a member of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Romanian nationals with a valid ESTA can travel to the United States for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa. The U.S. Embassy in Bucharest handles other visa categories for residents of Romania: student (F-1), exchange (J-1), work (H, L, O), fiancé (K), and all immigrant visas including family reunification. The embassy is located at Bulevardul Dr. Liviu Librescu 4-6, Sector 1, Bucharest — a modern, purpose-built compound in the northern part of the city.
Visa Services

All visa interviews and ACS services must be booked online via the USTravelDocs portal at ustraveldocs.com. Walk-in appointments are not available. The embassy is located at Bulevardul Dr. Liviu Librescu 4-6, Sector 1, Bucharest 015118. All visitors are subject to security screening; electronic devices are not permitted.
Special Notes
The embassy compound is in the northern part of Bucharest, not the historic city centre. U.S. citizens in Romania should enrol in the STEP programme. Review the current U.S. State Department travel advisory before travelling.
