United States Embassy in Bangkok

The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok is the headquarters of the U.S. Mission in Thailand and a major regional hub for U.S. diplomacy and operations in Southeast Asia. The embassy, along with the Consulate General in Chiang Mai, serves a large and diverse community and is one of the most visited U.S. missions in the world.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit is one of the busiest in the world, serving the hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens who live in or visit Thailand each year. It provides a full range of passport, citizenship, and notarial services. The ACS unit is also a critical resource for emergency assistance, handling a high volume of cases related to arrests, medical emergencies, and deaths.

The embassy facilitates investment in both directions. Through SelectUSA, it encourages Thai companies to invest in the United States, a growing trend for major Thai corporations. It also supports U.S. companies investing in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor and other strategic development projects.

The Public Affairs section manages a wide range of programs to strengthen the deep people-to-people ties between the U.S. and Thailand. This includes the Fulbright program, English language initiatives, and cultural exchanges. The embassy also supports major public health collaborations through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The embassy is located on a major thoroughfare and is a very busy post. Security is tight, and visitors are subject to screening. No large bags or electronic devices are permitted. The nearest BTS Skytrain station is Ploen Chit, which is a short walk from the embassy.
